All fast guitars and heightened yelps, Japanese Voyeurs create the sort of music that can really only be done by teenagers and those in their early 20s who still have a satisfying sense of havoc. Luckily, that’s exactly what these guys are, and they do it well, being a London version of Be Your Own Pet, but lacking the pointlessness. And they’ve played with Gang of Four! How awesome is that? A cute girl and a carefree attitude can take a band a long way. The Kabeedies might just like to think they have a little more than that though. Even if the girl is very cute and the attitude is very carefree. For underneath such welcome attributes a passion and a talent for creating smart, danceable indie pop that is as much Alphabeat as it is The Rezillos, and all far from your usual Norfolk stereotype of incestuous farm hands.
